CERTIFICATION COURSE ON INTRODUCTION TO INDOLOGY

OBJECTIVE :

This course explores the link between interpretation of philosophy in art and craft. and their impressions or influence on architecture.

The entire course will be carried out in three levels spread through three levels namely :

This level focuses on on an overview of NATYASHASTRA as philosophy by covering the following topics :

  • The advent of Natyashastra and its need
  • Who needed this philosophy
  • The limbs of Natyashastra
  • Means and Sources of Natyashastra
  • Its Manifestation in practice.

S H I L P A S H A S T R A

An Essence Of Indian Arts and Crafts

This level focuses on an overview of Shilpakala or Indian Sculpture Art as manifestation of philosophy by covering the following topics :

  • Structure of body to create an art form
  • Sense of rasa in intellect to understand about proportions
  • Evalution of concept of proportions, scala and balance through Shilpashastra
  • Learning from case studies / examples.

V A S T H U S H A S T R A

An Essence Of Indian Architecture

This level focuses on an overview of Vastukala as the physical expression and influence of the philosophy of Natyashastra and Shilpakala by covering the following topics :

  • Scale and proportions converted into spatial, physical form through Architecture
  • Studying various examples of this expression in temple columns, panels, facade etc
  • Various examples of Karanas ( Captured frozen dance movements) in temples.
